Having thought long and hard about a car I'm coming to the conclusion that the griff might be the one for me. Before I start looking and contacting people with a view of buying, I started to think about what I would like on my wish list I guess I have the following criteria.
The car must be on a W reg or younger this will enable me to place my private plate onto the car.
Any colour will be considered apart from any shade of green. I remember my uncle having a green VW beetle in the late 70's and had nothing but problems and bumps in the car and he warned me not to buy a green car.
The car must have PAS.
I guess to get value for money a private sale would be the way forward.
Am i limiting myself to something that's unattainable or is there a good chance in finding said car. All always I would be interested to hear what the experts think?

I didn't realise that I had limited myself to a 100 cars! Maybe a rethink is required?
I think 2000 was the 'run out' year for the Griff - this is the right place to ask though! Some very clever people will be along shortly to tell you exactly how many you can choose from...I have only seen one private sale of a SE car in recent months, the dealers are holding some stock but the going dealer rate seems to be £30-40K. (Even 70K has been mentioned)
The smart money would buy the best Griff you can afford privately.
There is some banter as to how many Griffs were actually made but in realality the answer is not many!!
Cars are exported fairly regularly and every year some are sadly written off etc
The second hand market typically has around 20 to 40 cars on offer at any time, from £40k minters to a few "needs work" cars so you may find it slow going with a specific wish list/budget.
There is an on line register for the last 100 SE cars and you will note some have disappered alltogether others exported and some the majority are not for sale, leaving very few cars with limited specs.

You might be able to find a W-reg non-SE....I have one, but they are few and far between. I think the SE cars ran from X-reg, so it was a probably a small number made before the run out last 100 SE-versions I expect (which means not much space to be selective on spec either!). I saw one here in the classifieds yesterday actually. But there are not very many that come up, maybe call Fernhurst, I think they recently sold a W-reg one, but they have had various ones recently.
Thanks,
I wonder if he would swap for my Taimar? It's a little special it's Peter Wheelers turbo and the catalyst that made him buy the company. I think it's worth as much or maybe a little more than the asking price on the eBay car,
Did not fancy the car? It looks like you have just become a proud owner of an SE.

Funnily enough Fernhurst had a formula red non-se (still available) that I nearly put a deposit on, but I decided that I didn't really like the shade of colour, preferred a more subtle, metallic shade. Gassing Station | Griffith | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
