Could someone confirm which wheels were fitted as standard on new Griffs and what sizes? I guess that 15 inch wheels were fitted on the front and 16 on the rear. We're upgrades available? I've seen some OZ wheels on Griffs which look expensive and high maintenance. Are these OZ wheels still available?
Depends what years. 15 fronts and 16 rears were standard across all except the last 100 SE's as I recall. Tyre sizes can vary slightly, more so on the front as cars with no PAS tend to run narrower. Mine are 205 fronts 225 rears I think...
Pre-cats came offered with either the 5 spoke Amil Gotti's or the OZ split rims. Both are long since unobtanium and come up for sale very rarely. The OZ's are notoriously difficult to refurb and tend to cost more if they are in a decent state. Most firms wont or cant get the finish people want so they are seen to be a royal PITA.
500's all came with the 7 spokes.
I love them!

I believe:
Early pre-cats came with 15/16" Camille Gottis (a full set of 4 is very desirable - very rare).
Later pre-cats were fitted with 15/16" Axia AMIL (slightly different from Gottis in the spoke dimensioning), damaged Gottis were sometimes replaced with AMILs so worth checking all wheels are the same.
Some pre-cats were fitted with optional 15/16" OZ Racing Split rims.
The 500s were fettled with 15/16" 7 Spoke Estorils. Some buyers opted for the Imolas, not sure why.
The SE/LEs have 16" Estorils all round or OZ Split rims.

I have two sets of AMIL wheels and just having one set refurbished, (Lacquer was damaged) my car (4.3 precat ) came out of Blackpool with OZ spilt rims. Not sure if I will sell one set and buy some 17” Calibre Vintage wheels to give better tyre choice, there was a red Griff for sale not long back with Calibre wheels and it looked good , Would be interested on peoples thoughts on these wheels

Good looking wheels IMO. Gets you back to the original OZ Split rim look. Plus with a set of AMILs as well you can chop and change when the fancy takes you (assuming the Calibres are 4 stud and the tyre budget is up to it). Selling a set of AMILs will help with the cost, especially if they're pristine.Just put a set of Dare DR-RS on my Griff in 17" from Rochford Tyres 7.5" at front and 8.5" at rear for £400 delivered - which is a bit cheaper than the Calibres, but otherwise identical as far as I can tell. Going on holiday today so will post pics when I get a chance. I think they look great!
Hi all - these are the pics of the Dare DR-RS wheels in 17". I went for 215/40/17 front and 255/40/17 rear (Federal RSR). Rear offset was perfect at ET35 but the fronts were ET38 (25 is standard) so the wheels sat a bit more inboard than normal - there was no fouling however I went for 10mm spacers on the front which improved things. The rear tyres were way more than 10mm wider than the standard Toyo T1Rs (245/45/16) but to my surprise they fit perfectly!

I like the split rims but my first pre-cat had the AMIL / gotti wheels and were a lot easier to clean. So if you do fancy selling the non refurbished AMIL wheels, I would be interested. Peter. Rascal661 said:

Very nice colour combo As I said recently in a thread I have had my Gotti wheels refurbished (pictures soon I promise). They are back on the car and look stunning. I also treated the wheels to a set of the stainless steel wheel nuts from ACT!! Highly recommended. they finish the wheels off superbly, are precision machined so look great and of course they will not corrode. Regards, Pete
Ford Sierra wheel nuts work for the Gotti and Amil wheels.
But you want the 2 piece type which allows the contact point with the wheel to stay put while the rest of the nut turns to tighten on. You also need to ensure they are the chamfered type as some have a flat leading edge which won't grip
This type - just nice shiny ones
