Courtesy Lights
Discussion
On an early pre cat how do the courtesy lights work, I've just re-connected the wires and I can get them to work with the switch on the light. Of the 3 positions on that switch 2 of them switch the lights on - I would of thought that 1 of those positons would of switched it on permanant and the other would of worked on the door switches.
The wiring diagram in the bible suggests that there may be a switch on the dashboard to switch them on, but I don't have an owners manual.
Any idea's please

Hi paul you will find the 2 positions are on and 1 position is off, however one of the 2 positions which is on will be on a time delay
Top man, they do exactly that....Cheers. Had to wait a bit as I never noticed before.
Now then next stupid question. This function described above is only working when I open and close the drivers door, does the passenger side door operate the footwell light (haven't as yet wired that in and checked the bulb)........ or do I have a problem that needs resolving as the passenger door should operate the main cockpit light??
My '92 4.3 pre-cat has a footwell light on the passenger side only and both courtesy lights are operated at the same time and by both doors.
OLD64ER - it's behind the glove box but I understand they were fitted more or less at the whim of whoever was on the production line that day !

but if it does not its only a matter of crossing a wire from the switch in the door cill.
