RL7's finally fitted
Discussion
Took me a while...but I finally got hold of a set of 18's for the back (thanks Anthony).
A whole day off work today has seen all the suspension back together, so finally get to drive the car again.
Now for some geometry setup - anyone got a good set of Geo figures to get started with? Going to take it somewhere local first to see how I get on.

I still love the look of the Spiders, but the drive is a bit harsh - and they tram line a bit too much for my liking. 8.5" on the front is just a little bit too much...
I think the RL7's look a bit more like they are from the same era as the car. Having the fronts at 17 and the rear at 18 helps maintain the original look.
Took it out for a drive and it feels great - even with my DIY geometry set up in the garage (spirit level, steel rule, string and axle stands)
Will take a few more photos next time I'm out and about.
The tyres are Federal 595RSR, 215 40 17 Fronts, 245 35 18 Rears - pretty close to the rolling circumference of the originals.
Have the Spiders stored in the garage now, for special occasions - I should probably part with them really...

Just have the original Gaz nickels. I got these nearly 7 years ago - and they've been great. Sent them off a few weeks back to be serviced, only £125 for all four. They're a little bit rusty - but I've seen a few posts about the Gaz Golds that haven't been so positive, so maybe a good choice in the end.
I don't have PAS, but the steering is fine for me. I have considered the conversion that Steve G has carried out using a Subaru rack - I've got the bits stashed in the garage - maybe next year...
If you're looking at purchasing the Federals - I can recommend this site:

Keep a watch, the prices fluctuate daily - at the moment the 245's are £114, the 215's are £139 - they come direct from Poland, courier is DPD and delivered with full tracking in 3-4 days. I paid £420 for all four in the end.
Most tyre fitters will frown when you turn up with these, they have quite a rigid sidewall and are a bugger to fit. I'm running 24 psi at the moment - and that seems okay.

Ouch £2k seems a little bit too rich to me. If I couldn't get hold of the RL7's in 17/18, the back up plan was to go for these Compomotives:

Says on the Compomotive website that they are 'exclusive', but I'm sure you could get them shipped direct in the UK for about £900.

Bit like a cross between the RL7 and a Spider - couple more spokes than the M06's.

LOL - I don't think I'd have turned that down either!! I think wheel technology has probably come on a little in the last 20 years, but I guess there's limits (unless you're paying ££££'s for forged). I weighed the RL7's and I think they're about 10.2kg (17) and 11kg (18), which isn't too bad for 7.5/8.0 rims.
