Hi guys, I need to replace the side targa seal (window) on my pre-cat. Having looked into what is available I see the way to go is the udated mk2 seal, track and spacer. Having priced this up from a few of the regular TVR stockists it can work out a staggering £72 (incl VAT) for 2m of seal, 2 tracks and 2 spacers! Being the sort of guy who likes a challenge I have found a source of materials which could reduce the job price to about £15 the lot! Have just ordered the parts, so will keep you posted. Just to advise, I have sourced the parts from a company called Woolies - http://www.woolies-trim.co.uk/DEFAULT.ASPX ; have used them over the years on other classic cars. They are a great source of seals, mouldings, fixtures fittings etc. They sent me samples to evaluate so I was able to try out a small section.

I identified the rubber seal they keep as thus:

Identical to that at TVR stockists, Woolies price £3.00/M incl. Was able to get only 1.5M also.

With regard to the track, have ordered their aluminium track as thus:

As the aluminium is slightly thicker you do not need the silly thin spacer! I intend to just spray up the aluminium before fitting. Track costs £10 for a 2M length. Have had them cut up into sizes suitable for targa width.

So, shall post pics when job on the go. As I said it is a great saving (another nearly £60 to fuel the beast). All the best, Pete

Interesting news Pete. I bought the 'TVR' tracks, seals and spacers but haven't actually got around to fitting them in the 2 years I've had them.

Keep us posted. Its nice to see when someone has come up with an innovative solution.
