Well it seems like the early part of this year is still splash money on the Griff time, already I've replaced the diff for a nice quiet one compared to my original, and replaced the worn and tired billies with some nice new shiney protech suspension.
Been thinking about upgrading the front brakes for some time, if for no other reason that the 260mm discs and single pot calipers look lost under the 17" wheels. Been researching and there are various kits available, but at a price, so found a company that do upgrades for various Ford's and cosworths, and had him drill the adaptor brackets to fit the standard sierra hubs that the Griff uses. So now I have focus rs 324mm vented discs with Brembo 4 pots off a BMW E38, initial impressions as I only finished them this morning are very posative, lots of feel and plenty of braking power when needed, things should improve further when its all bedded in more too, had some issues trying to bleed the brakes by myself, as the 4 pots can be a Bugger sometimes, but after investing in a Gunsons eze bleed kit, it was a 2 min doddle to get all the air out, great bit of kit.so costs are £300 for the calipers brackets and pads, and £80 for the discs, so for under £400 I think its good value .
Right some pics, first off the standard set up followed by the new bits.

Excellent work. Looks really well. I would have thought Focus RS discs would have been 5 hole or were the discs specially made.

What exactly was the adaptor bracket you used.

Nope mk1 focus rs wheels were 4 stud so its a generally available item, the bracket allows the caliper to bolt to the hub once i'd run a m12 tap through the existing hole that the original caliper was fixed through.

Yes same kit minus the discs as I already had those, be aware though that kit won't fit directly to the tvr hub as its a boggo sierra item and not a cossie., but if you ask him he will just drill the mounting bracket to suit....... on a 500 the hub holes that the standard brakes mount to are 10mm clearance and almost 11mm in size, so ideal to run a 12 tap through so that they are then threaded, and the mounting brackets bolt to those, very simple brake upgrade.

Also you will need 17 " wheels obviously, mine are et 35 and have curved spokes so clear the calipers easily and no spacers needed.

Those calipers and discs will just squeeze inside a 16" wheel, so no need for aftermarket wheels

Tight if they do, and unless its for the last run of 100 Griff's then 16" will be aftermarket anyway?
Or at least not as it came from the factory.

I have a pair of 16" Estorils to put on the front, this will enable me to fit the larger discs and Brembo calipers while keeping the factory look

If you fit fifteen quid pads, it will be worse than stock with proper pads, so make sure you fit decent pads, bigger discs give you more leverage, and bigger calipers have more thermal capacity ( resistance to fade).
