Well Well, not really... Far from it..
Think I've blown a head gasket.
First of all wanna say a BIG thankyou to Andy (Starmist) for pulling over on the M5 Southbound and trying to help me...
Andy I owe you a
next time we meet up and in better circumstances I hope.
Thought I'd give her a final run before away for the winter. Only 200 miles to my sis in Devon, nice and steady I thought.
Thats exactly what I did nice and steady 70/80 mph and she was running lovely jubbly, oil press around 35/40 and water temp hovering around 75-80 no hint whatsoever. Then felt two small flat spots and that was it loss of power and running very lumpy.
Thought at first maybe with the very wet roads and spray etc the leads had manged to get wet hence the lumpy running.
Coasted her to hard shoulder and switched off.
Five minutes later with head under bonnet Andy pulls up and takes a look, checked everything we could and started her up she ran lovely... for about 30 seconds til water pressure built up and that was it back to lumpy running again and then a fair amount of smoke/ steam and the smell of unburnt fuel from exhausts.
This does sound like head gasket... does'nt it...?
So Low loader it was back home to fetch the focus, Green Flag were excellent turned up within 30 Mins and said same as Andy. 30 mins later for low loader to turn up but still within the hour so thanks to them.
Can anyone help me with a decent independent garage/mechanic that is local to Banbury J11 M40 that knows about the V8 5Ltr Serp engine and won't rip me off... Many thanks in advance to everyones input..

I had a head Gasket go, On investigation it was found that both heads were cracked, and the cam was Shotttttt..
To the opertunity then, to have stage 3 heads fitted and a V8 Dev cam fitted, Plus non reverse cones where the precats should be.....
