I'm looking to get new shoes for my Griff. When I bought it 2 years ago it had new T1R's on, with just 3000miles. I have now driven about 10-12k miles and the tires are starting to get a bit worn. (Especially tha back wheels, i wonder why!
)
I've been thinking of the Toyo R888. How are these tires compared to the T1R, I've heard they wear very quickly? Any other tires you could recommend? Open for suggestions!

R888's offer much more grip, have a really stiff sidewalls that you can really lean on but the ride will be a lot harsher with them. The 888's only wear fast if you are sliding around on them or the tracking is out. I would expect to get 4-5k of road use out of them. Also of note they are great in the damp/wet but start aquaplaning as soon as there is any standing water.
Put 888s on mine a couple of months ago, epic in the dry, need to be a bit careful in heavy rain, but no worse than the well worn T1Ss that came off it 
I have low expectations on tyre wear whatever goes on it. Bit like fuel consumption questions - people who worry about how many mpg and how long the tyres last tend to look at the Griff, shake their heads and mutter.
Oh...nearly forgot the 888s look pretty impressive too!

check out the Toyo R1R tyres, they are better than the T1R and not as radical as the R888.
I love them on my T350 and Sag.

That sounds like a nice compromise between the two TYRES. (thought it was tires, must've been tired.)Better as an all rounder and far better then standard road tyres.

Once warm and on a dry road, difficult to spin-up unless you really do have 340BHP !
Why go for 888's unless your tracking every weekend and have modified the engine alot ???

I can always go back to the T1r's if I'm not satisfied with the R1R's which I'm currently considering!

A consideration with the 888 is I notice that some of them are no longer CE marked. It seems to depend on the size and the compound. If I have understood correctly (which is unlikely) new EU requirements for various things, one being noise are challenging to some existing tyre designs. There seems to be an exemption to complying with the new CE marking regs provided they are sold for and fitted to cars registered before a particular date.
Plainly the presence or not of a CE mark will no difference to the amount of grip from what is an excellent tyre. It may however represent an insurance or even MOT problem. Also I notice that the MSA have said that tyres in List 1b (basically track day rubber like the 888) that do not have CE marks will no longer comply, so if you are going to Sprint or Hill Climb the car that may be worth considering.
There are tyres, from Yokohama, Kumo, Avon and others that offer very similar performance.

Not sure what size wheels you have, I've just fitted Federal RSRs to mine (17/18's) and so far they seem good - only some 'spirited' road driving of course.
They are quite a bit cheaper than the Toyo's. I've not had any experience of the 888 / R1R (was previously on T1Rs), people who've had both seem to rate the RSR alongside the 888. Most report that the RSR seems to work better at lower temps, which would be better for the road.
