I see the superb Griffith SE nr 17 now for sale.

I notice the plastic headlamps covers have a metallic rim instead of rubber. I would appreciate to learn more about this. How, Who can do this job ?

Many thanks.

I don't they are metal. The seal around the pods is a sealant that holds them in place. It looks like someone just used a different colour from the standad black

I would say that is definitely a chrome trim, if you look carefully on the first picture, you can see the join at the bottom

I saw this car in the classifies recently, it is a lovely example with some great upgrades but personally I am really not keen on the metal rims around the headlights.

It's a thin plastic chrome beading stuck over the Sikaflex to tidy up the look. Could easily be removed if necessary. Done by its most recent owner. Very neat job. Considering doing mine but with a black trim not chrome.

Thank you. DO you know by chance which product has been used (brand or reference).

Can't imagine why you'd want to stick cheap plastic trim on your car but these guys supply it http://www.nfauto.co.uk/rubber_trim.htm

I reckon, in a photogragh, it looks rather good and tidies up an area of the car that wasn't finished that well. It depends on how well it sits when closely examined. David.

I can see a joint on the sideview which puts me off straightaway and at the front of the car I'd imagine it'll start to get tatty rather quickly by being sandblasted.

If we were talking about something made for the job like these then I might be less critical but even then I'd need convincing about the look. Just IMO.

Is it a prototype for the Griffith ?
On a Intermeccanica Italia. Very nice with the rim but even nicer without. Unfortunately we have the sikaflex on the Griff.

It is just a thin plastic trim, heated up and manipulated into shape. Bought from a local motor factors. Halfords supply it too. It's finished off with a small home made ali 'half tube' thing. Nice job to be fair. If not to every ones taste.

You can buy these very trims for £31899 if you like. I'll even throw in the car for free wink

No they're E-Type Jaguar ones.

If care is taken the Sikaflex seam on the Griffith can be very neat and unobtrusive, it certainly was on mine before I 'modified' the front. (Repair coming along nicely, hopefully in paint this week)

The Griffith is a clean uncluttered shape and adding chrome trim isn't what it's about, unless of course you're planning on adding some chrome trim round the radiator opening and mounting a rail to put your RAC and AA badges on. wink

I have to disagree. I think the Griff looks great with a bit of chrome.
