Tim, Mark, Jamie & Co

Quick update, spent an hour on Austec rolling road last night because GriffNos (her new Russian name - in keeping with the new ownership of TVR) appeared down on power and the idle was a bit crappy and rich, or so i suggested!

Well either that or i was getting used to the power!

Not often things work out for the pleasantly unexpected - but in this case we discovered an increase of 20BHP and almost 40ft/lbs of Torque - and that was with two fat bastards sitting in the boot, which added to the transmission loss. This means she now puts out 405bhp with 430ft/lb..... but check out these figures at the wheels... 343bhp and 368ft/lb at 5905rpm.....WOW! Loosen up baby, loosen up... The graphs are under my profile.

And it didnt cost me a bean, apart from another 1000miles, 1x Track day and Paul stress testing my Nitrons from the drivers seat!!!

Im sure gonna have fun with those 'Fast n Furious' Japs on Sunday at SantaPod!

We believe with the new tyres next week to stop the wheel spin we could be looking at the next set of figures around 425BHP and 450ft/lb

And all without the Nitrous - Now looking like a realistic graphed 600BHP and 600ft/lb Torque with Nos, if i can convince Paul to let it loose on his Rollers!

More to come...i hope, lol!

405...WITHOUT nos!!!!

didn't seem that fast to me at Pembrey

seriously tho, how are you pushing 405 without Nos?
i know you have the ACT triple and big injectors and Taraka bottom end...but 405?

others have been doing well to hit 340 with the same.

Not really, you need to look closely at the spec of this engine 5.3 JE block, roller rockers, racing cam, and more.
This sort of power doesn't come cheap either, I've never supplied a plenum for a RV8 with this kind of spec before.

i guess the 5.3 is the important bit.

rollers won't make power...unless its in reducing friction and allowing revs? and i suppose the block will handle it better?

looked nice too...lots of shiney bits.

Depends on the ratio on the rockers as well. It may be they give a little more valve lift.

I was surprised the 5.3 made much more power, since it's mainly stroked, rather than bored (I would have expected torque only), but the combination with the OMEX as well really seems to work.

It would be interesting for you / me / Tiny to have a go on Austec's dyno since we are all assuming a 20% uplift from Mech Repairs. No one will know for sure unless David and one of us goes on the same rollers at the same time.

It is certain it's producing some awesome figures, but it would be very interesting to find out exactly how much more, and exactly what it's down to!

I agree that you can't compare figures from different dynos, until you go on the same Rolling road on the same day.
I think there will be a few more powerful TVRs on there way to Austec in the near future, just to compare with Griffnos.

oops...my goof!

i'm on the way back from the "ring" on sat 13th!!

well COULD make it back by about 4 at a push! it'll probably be a late one anyway by experience!

9/10th or 16/17th means mark would probably be there and if the days are not full already we could all be involved (as we've all worked on these cars!)

look forward to meeting you too Tim. YHM.

I could do the Saturday, but I think it would be better to have Mark in attendance for minor tweaking. It would be a shame for anyone to go all the way there and have some minor niggle knocking 20 odd horses off the total.

Anyway, if I'm going to pay for another rr session, I might just fit an OMEX before hand and have Mark set it up on the day!
