Are you taking yours off as much as you should?

I watched the other day as a leading TVR garage did a lot of engine work on a Griff with the bonnet still on. Being on my third Griff, I can remove my bonnet and refit it quicker than I can take the roof off, put it in the bag, then in the boot, then take it out again and refit it. Is it just me or do most people just lift the catches and remove the bonnet, even for small jobs? It makes a huge difference.
It is the same on every Mercedes that I have had. When I am working on it, I just pull the locks out one more stop and put the bonnet vertical and yet I have watched people cursing and banging their heads on a partially open bonnet.

That's a bit of a worry: is it only pre-cat owners who take their bonnets off! Does that mean us pre-cat owners are more handy and do more work on our cars
..............or does it mean that they go wrong more so we have to
. Just to prove it, I have been giving the engine bay a bit of a clean up today, fitted new ACT ducts, swapped over the AFM, for fault diagnosis, cleaned up the bonnet stay brackets etc. When I fitted new HT leads and an HT cap, I put a cushion in the wing and sat with my feet in the engine bay, a lot easier.

do you want to borrow my car for a month..... as you seem to like tinkering and cleaning hehehehehe
To be honest, I think just one car is giving me enough work at the moment
Mind you, that guy who comes to the growl and details the cars does a great job, time to treat yourself
