Coming home after a run out tonight with the Griff 500 I noticed the clutch sliped very slightly when I gave it the big gun.

Nothing major but I did see the RPM rise a bit under full load and drop again once the throttle was slightly lifted.

The pedal is at fairly well at the top of its travel, is there any adjustment on the system? or is it time to plan for a new clutch?

The previous owner had a clutch done reasonably recently and looking back in the service history it has had another several years ago, is it normal to go through three clutches in 50K? I dont think I have abused the clutch no track days or such and have only used the car for around 800 miles since owning it.

Lastly what is the cost of a clutch fitted at a TVR specilist? I am fairly close to Neil Garners so he is possibly my closest specialist here in Wiltshire.

3 clutches in 50k miles doesnt seem right. Unfortunately theres no adjustment so seems like its time for another. Maybe whoever put your last one in hasnt put the right spec in and it cant handle the 500`s power.

New AP clutch kit would be about £350 inc VAT. Should be 4-5 hrs labour for a specialist to fit.

db484bhpv8 was offering his services on clutches and cam renewals whilst he is inbetween jobs. Maybe contact him. Probably be a lot cheaper than a tvr specialist.

Mine did this and when I took it off found the clutch soaked in oil. Maybe worth taking a look through the inspection panel in the bottom of the bell housing to check. Not sure of the source of the oil but replaced the back main engine seal as a precaution. No more slippage since but in the meantime the engine had to be re-built...

N.B. if it is oil soaked and nothing is done to fix the oil leak then clearly you will get through a lot of clutches.

I have not managed to squeeze underneath yet but the garage floor is not showing any signs of a leak and no oil useage so not thinking it is a leak??

The pedal is very much at the top of the travel so I fear the worst I have seen the clutch kits with a heavy duty cover and a paddle type disc they look good but can the hydraulic system handle the extra force need to operate the system??

Anyone fitted this type of clutch???

My car is only for road use so have no reason to think it needs it other than a fit and forget clutch.
