My Griffith will be going for a repaint in the not too distant future.

When new the car was yellow, but when the car was just two years old the second owner had it repainted in red as part of the purchase deal.

The interior and roof are brown, so a little odd on a red car, but not bad.

I have only ever seen one TVR Griffith in yellow, in the flesh; otherwise I have only seen them in photos. That car is one of the very first Griffiths in a rather pale pearl yellow - not keen - but mine would have been a more solid and pure yellow. By contrast the red is typical red, and much the same as my 350i, I believe a Ferrari colour.

So, I ask you who have seen more TVR Griffiths than myself, what colour looks the best of these two? Does one stand out more in the bright light, or perhaps at dusk? Do I go original, or do I go with the red that I know I like.

Family split 50/50 on this one - look forward to your collective thoughts.

Cheers,

Rob, Canada.

Thanks for helping narrow things down a little John.

Perhaps Paul Smith stripes would be a good compromise?

yes, wow would be a pretty good description.

My problem is I am an originality sort of guy. So, nope to orange.

I will ask you (and all others) again, red or yellow?

And no, purple is not one of the choices.

Never seen a brown interior or brown roof. Could I suggest you change these rather than the external colour?
Not a big red fan so yellow would be good for me, but neither would suit a brown interior. Have you seen the apache orangey brown - would really suit, maybe. Moonraker black is one of the best exterior colours on a Griff which works with brown.
Any interior/roof pics?

Taken this May - must have been a late night the day before...

(Sorry these next two shots are from my phone, so not very good)

Interior is in pretty good shape overall...

And here is the rare shot, roof up, must have been avoiding the sea gulls!

P.S., that is a nice looking car! I won't be changing my interior, both expense and originality, but I do prefer the gray.

There was a yellow one at Fernhurst's when I was looking to buy. I didn't like it hence I went red, but probably not the red you might have in mind.

Is it me or does yellow look better on a Chim rather than a griff?

And Digger, the red I would go with is precisely the colour in the shots I attached. Just fresh paint. The colour of yellow I would go with would be precisely the colour it was when new, here is a low quality picture of the car when it was brand new back in 1994...

Wish I had a better picture, but this is the only one I have - sure doesn't show the shine of a new car, and being an old picture that was then shot by my phone it is that much less accurate.

Can't get the full brown effect. If you're so concerned about originality why are you changing the exterior colour as then all originality is out the window.

Changing the colour from red to yellow means I would be changing back to the original colour - repainting it in red perpetuates the non orginal colour. Not looking at any third choices; simply repaint in the same nice red it is today, or repaint returning it to the original yellow.

I would go for the original yellow color. I like the brown interior, but would change the carpet color to something brighter.

It's a pity you need to put the US side reflectors on..

Yes, the side markers, and high brake lights are unique to the Canadian cars. Guess I could have the holes filled, but reasonable chance you will faintly see the fill points.

Rob, just to be really helpful, how about green or turquoise (see my profile)....!

Your family are split 50/50 so you could toss a coin....!

I am not a yellow person so if it was the choice of the two I would go for red (and there are some beautiful red metallics around) but this is such a personal thing, what do you prefer?

Good luck, Pete

Having owned a yellow car, I'd say revert to yellow if you get a lot of sunshine wherever you are. A deep yellow always looks great under the sun, but somehow a little sad under grey skies.

Yellow. Halcyon Midas Pearl. That was to be my second choice colour.
The best colour is Halcyon Atlantis Blue....of course, slightly biased...but not with dark brown interior.

A few I've seen from Best Griff pic? thread ( Exige S pictures)
