Hi all, sorry to have to ask the question here but the Volvo forum seems to be deserted and I desperately need advice.

My 940 Estate passed on everything except the emission test.

What do I need to do to sort it?

TIA

Al

Standard approach would just be to change the Cat and Lambda sensors together. It will be one or the other that's dead but running the car with non-functioning lambda sensors will likely have killed the Cat any way. If you're doing the work at home I would just change both to save the hassle of having to go back under when it fails again.

The cat looks like it's fine, the low HC readings suggest it's still cleaning things up, but the lambda reading is high suggesting the lambda sensor is goosed. sensors are cheap (check ebay).. change it anyway and re-test?

Take a good look at the exhaust downstream of the cat/lambda sensors. A small leak will draw air into the exhaust at high speed, increase in lambda results.
Or the sensor is knackered.
