What bad luck mate. All is not lost though, you could have been involved in an accident and written the beast off! If you are up for it it's an engine out job, strip down and replace crank and any other parts requiring replacement. On the positive side, good opportunity to check everything over clean up and shien tose engine parts, clean up/paint inside the engine bay etc. Keep us posted, rgds, Pete

Dead stop, after a terminal sounding clatter. Won't turn, fly has a wobble.

Cheers Pete, I'm trying to keep it light, but in reality there is not looking like an option for me to be able to get it sorted.
Really is a lottery ticket job this weekend.

Yeah, won't turn more than an inch or 2.

Bloody hell Ian. Was it all that extra power and that "special" induction kit that did it?
Hope you can get it sorted economically.

Like the other guys have said: important to keep your spirits up and stay positive about it. It's surprising sometimes which jobs cost a lot and which not. You might yet get away without a crazy bill.

Loadsa man-points if you have bust the crank - I've only ever broken one, on a Suzuki X7 two-stroke twin bike. Sheared right where the labyrinth seal runs and confused the hell out of me as it still ran, sort of, but just sounded odd laugh

Treat it as an opportunity and post up the gory details; someone will know the best way out however buggered it is. Good luck

Oh no sorry to hear about your engine Ian. I hope you can get it sorted. Snapped cranks are not unheard of on the 500, a design weakness apparently.
