I have been a complete plonker and drove into a trief kerb today and destroyed the front aero and splitter and cracked the fibreglass underneath and around the front light. I'm not bothered about the fibreglass repairs I am good at that its a mornings work but can anyone help with the paint colour. It is a 94 griff 500 and a common colour. It's the mid blue. Does anyone know if its a standard manufacturers colour that I can buy in halfwits or somewhere similar?

By the way it looks slightly darker in the photos than in real life.

What's the code under the bonnet? There's a list knocking around which translates TVR codes to other manufacturers where applicable. I'm sure someone will post it up or point you in the right direction shortly.

Edited to say: looks like Cosmos Blue, but I couldn't be sure from those images.

Hi Jes,

Hi Jes, min is stated in the front page of the handbook, states the colour and the code! Be careful though as there are a multitude of variations in the shade. Go to a proper paint shop and have them match it exactly to a shade colour chip. Where are you? I am in the Colchester area, if you were not too far I could bring home the colour swatches if you first identified the original colour! Regards, Pete

Oh no bad luck with the kerb Jes, they are bloody evil those trief kerbs. That is quite ironic given how hard you drive the car on those narrow sprint circuits that the car gets damaged on the road.

Hope you get it sorted.

Thanks. Got it 422 0509B. It's a Nissan 124 code whats weird is that its stated as 2002 but mine is a 94. I'll get some anyway just to patch it up for the last 2 sprints and then do it properly during the winter. I have already in less than 2 hours stripped it cut out and repaired most of the cracks from the inside. Just need to fix the outside now. I reckon it's £30 fibreglass and a small tub of filler. it will probably be less than a days work excluding paint. if i had done it through the insurance it would have had a new corner and cost thousands. It's just as well its a sprint car and doesn't need to look concourse

All the serious work is done. Body and underside repaired, splitter rebuilt, fitted and set up to the correct height. I have also reinforced the rather flimsy inner wing vertical sections either side of the radiator to help when I next bang it into something.

The finish is not pretty but it will work for the last 2 sprints. I will deal with the aesthetics when the sprint season is over during the winter.

The log book has a different colour from the one on the bonnet sticker. The log book says. 422B P181 and that is not shown on either list. Deep joy!

.

Thanks for the help. Pete - if I can't match it I may well take you up on your kind offer. Cheers. jes
