While reversing out of the garage yesterday there was a strong smell of petrol.

On investigation the floor was covered, must have been a good few litres.

Culprit: The fuel hose clamp on the inaccessible hose behind the bulkhead.

All fuel hoses are new braided SS but not having sufficient fuel clamps I did use two jubilee clips to secure it to the copper feed pipe.

Have just ordered a quantity of stainless ABA clips to prevent further problems.

Only use proper fuel hose clips for fuel hoses they clamp far more efficiently than jubilee clips, and if stainless steel will not rust like galvanized clips.

A bit more expensive but far cheaper than a fireball! Plenty of SS ABA clips on Ebay.

Hoover.

This was picked up also on my car whilst in Bespoke Performance a month ago..... apparently this should of been rectified some time ago, as it notified as modification to be done to all TVR garages.

Bear in mind I've had the car 10 years, it's been serviced by 3 different garages (anually) and had an engine rebuild

was shown that fuel pipe could easily be pulled off with no real force, as it was just pushed on

I had a huge fright yesterday morning whilst queing in the rain at the crossing, Suddenly clouds of thick smoke apeared from the rear of the bonnet area. My imeadiate thought was that she was going up, I keep 2 fire exstinguishers ( a small one clamped to the roll bar ) and another larger one in the passengers foot well, but as as I was just about to pay I was fairly close to the kiosk / wall and could barely squeeze out.
I turned the engine off got out and slowly lifted the bonnet, but thankfully it was the lower water pump hose that had a pin hole in it and coolant was being sprayed onto the header. The staff there were brilliant and stopped the traffic to allow me to pull over to the left side. I keep 5 litres of anti freeze with me so topped up and got going again.

That fuel pipe is something I must change.
