Is this by any chance the same servo as fitted to a '97 Griff?

No its not.

The Ka servos were fitted to the T cars i believe.

For a Griff you want a Fiesta of XR2i era. I think all Fiestas of that era used the same servo tho. You may well find there are no new ones left though.

Petegriff is looking at an alternative over the Winter months if you can wait.

Thought it sounded too cheap to be true. Thanks for the info anyway.

Hi Hedgehopper, as stated I am going to look at the feasibility of designing an adaptor kit so as we can fit the readily available KA units to our cars. I have a redundant Griff setup donated to me and have obtained a KA setup. As stated will be looking at this over the winter months when more time permits. The idea is to develope a kit and instructions to hopefully fit the KA or other unit(s). Regards, Pete

I would check on the availablity of the Ka as I believe the 22.2 bore version (all Ka with abs) has ceased production. Don't want to jump from one obsolete kit to another.

Thanks for the advice chaps. Fortunately I don't need one at the moment but sometimes it's worth buying rare spares for the future.

I believe that will be Ford ceasing support and hence manufacture. There will be the massive aftermarket and OEM supplier network still supporting the unit for quite a while. I plan to look at other similar size/capacity units also as I know we cannot rely on just one replacement. The key to all this is to ensure via adaptors etc that the same pedal box and opening in the wing are retained. All the best, Pete

Funny enough I was just researching all this yesterday, as may need to replace my master cylinder [not looking forward to it].

Some info so far -

Ford Fiesta ('83-'96) parts, though there is also a possible Saab replacement master cylinder. The servo is TRW PSA328 / OEM 1666345 / 89FB2005BC. The master cylinder is more complicated, as originally TRW PMF238, which was replaced by PMF254, PMF257 and PMF332. However, there were two sizes used, one with a 20.64mm bore and one with a 22.2mm bore. In theory, the larger bore was used on the Cerbera, but it also has appeared on later Griffs and Chims. No real way to know till you take yours apart.

The following appears to be the correct part for the 20.6 version, but can't comment on quality/originality - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Brakes-Master-Cylinder-F...

As for the servo, they're getting very hard to find at a reasonable price - see here - http://www.petrolheads.co.uk/xforums/topic.asp?h=0...

I can tell you that 1.6mm difference will make minimal brake travel distance so you could safely use either of those bore sizes thumbup I did all this years ago with fast Fords (both single and dual circuit brakes) and even 2mm makes no notable travel difference to the feel or pedal travel unless we want to get really anal about it rolleyes PeteGriff all the best with your findings wink

Hi TJ, unfortunately have not been able to get onto the project yet. I did intend it to be a winter project so will definitely tackle it over the next couple of months. All the best, Pete
