have a pre-cat griffith with a meta alarm that is behaving badly - discharging battery, random behaviour etc.

so want to put a new one in
needs to be thatcham 1
I don't want a separate immobiliser key - I want the immobiliser to be integrated into alarm
I want it to open the boot
needs microwave but not ultrasonics.

tilt sensor would be nice
text message on alarm would be nice
remote start would be cool, but may not be compatible with thatcham 1

Would be grateful for any advice

thanks
tom

I thought Carl was in France these days?

I was thinking of swapping mine out for a newer Meta system which should hopefully minimise the hassle (and required electronics knowledge). Abacus alarms seem to stock the current systems to allow a simple DIY solution but I haven't actually got in touch with them yet to discuss the problem.

Speak to Dave Fairclough of HF Solutions dfairclough@rocketmail.com. Great guy - he sorted out my Griff's hot start misbehaving Meta last week. It all cost less than half the price I expected and he traveled out to me. Dave is an extremely knowledgeable ex Meta employee and can fit you all the options like remote boot release.

  • * Follow up.
After asking around and trying to contact Carl, I asked Mat Smith in the glamorous fens to do the job. He to cut back to the original loom (remove Gemini and Meta nastiness) and then fit the new Meta, with the boot release mod which is on the same fob. Also has a module that sends me a text if the alarm goes off.

I have to say he has done a top job - very neat - also put in a ripping new head unit which I have been using to listen to a number of recordings from the hit parade.

all in all very pleased as enthusiasm to mess around with about TVR wiring looms is a gift not given to everyone.

Mat seemed to be enthusiastic about providing alarm/boot upgrades as a service and if Carl is not around then good luck to him!
