No doubt this has been covered in the past, but can't locate relevant threads at mo.

All wishbones good but as am going to replace shocks with Protechs and rebush may as well refurb wishbones.

Thinking glass/bead blasting ,galvanising and powdercoating or paint.

Any pros/cons or particular recommendations?

John, I'm going to be doing the same as you in the new year. I'm also going to be galvanising my chassis as well (the subject of a number of previous threads) Whether that's a recommendation or not ......?

I had mine powder coated. That is not necessarily a recommendation but it is relatively cheap and painless. I painted my hubs with POR15 and, had I known how good it was beforehand, I may well have gone down that route with the wishbones. The difference being powder coating will chip as it is quite brittle. Once chipped the degradation will resume. POR15, on the other hand, is extremely tough and will withstand all sorts of abuse. I have no experience of galvanising.

If you are thinking about upgrading the bushes to poly, a good tip is to make sure the bushes, sleeves and washers, all fit prior to whatever finish you decide to go for on the wishbones. The reason being, there are numerous blobs of weld on the original wishbones that aren't an encumbrance to the standard bushes but need to be removed to fit the poly bushes. You don't want to be finding this out once they are beautifully painted!

David, Thanks for that. Haven't got to the stage of dismantling yet, just sussing things out. Yep had thought of trying bushes prior to any treatment and imagine galvanising could also maybe leave a residue, but still undecided re poly or rubber. John.

Yes I took mine to a powder coater and they stripped them then put on a zinc coating before the powder coat. That was about 3 years ago now and they still look good so I am happy

I am in the process of doing the same with mine. Have Protechs ready to go on. I will have my wishbones powder coated to an automotive specification from one of my sub-contractors. They will strip down thoroughly, zinc phosphate pretreatment then a quality powder coat - job done!
