Charger advice
Discussion
When I bought the car it had a battery isolator in the passenger footwell. I thought this would be handy and save me having to use a battery conditioner and had got into the habit of turning it off. All was well until I had a new alarm fitted last week.......
I have to park the car tight to the passenger side wall of the garage to get out due to having a garage designed for Austin 7's and me being 6'5". Did this (windows up and roof on), isolated battery, got out, shut the door and forgot all about it until this morning.
The new alarm locked the doors with the power disconnected
I managed to reach round and pop the roof and have just done a John Cleese to go in headfirst to power the battery and get in
It's obvious I might need to reconnect a charger but it's tricky. I can't open the passenger door when it's parked and I must have the only Griff without a cigarette lighter in the door.
I was going to fit one anyway(for phones/satnav etc) but where?
My old S would be fine after weeks but the battery was easier to get at. Does everybody use them? It's rarely going to have to sit for more than two weeks. Maybe a dodgem type system with a live garage roof would be best?

Can you open the boot?
Its relatively easy to get a wire under the carpet to the access panel behind the passenger door pillar, then over the wheel arch and into the boot. I plug my charger in like this and just need to leave the boot popped.
Alternatively, you can get remote controlled battery savers with a protection circuit in for radio presets and presumably your alarm.
I can't remember their name now but a quick google should find them.

The boot would make sense as it's right next to a wall socket. I was hoping to use a charger that I could plug into the cigarette lighter and kill two birds with one stone. Could loop it in I suppose.........the 'to do' list is definitely growing faster than I can get down it
Anyway off down to The Isle of Cockney for Christmas with the In-laws. Have a good one everybody!

I fitted a small loom from the battery through into the engine compartment (easy to push wires through grommet leading from just below wiper). To this small loom I connected the plug assembly received with my C-Tek conditioning/Charger. All wires I neatly covered in expanding black sleeving with a small rubber sleeve at each end to tidy it, voila, a very handy connection point to plug in charger/conditioner when Griff is left for a while (I leave mine on all the time during Autumn and Winter). Just pop the bonnet and connect, if the charger lead is fed in through the gap at the front of the bonnet you can close the bonnet down! The loom plug end inside engine compartment tucks neatly down the side of the AFM between the inner wing when not in use. Had this setup for two years now and it works perfectly. All the best, Pete
