Aww, bless him. Is it a comedy piece? My favourite bits:
You'd have to be very unlucky indeed to go out to buy a car and accidentally come home with a pig, or worse still an incomplete pig
Wonder what sort of information he had to help him distinguish?
Having established how easy it is to inadvertantly buy a farm animal, I'd say this was a bonus
Just the normal things have gone wrong then.

Mind you, If you were considering a Fiat Barchetta, discounted Griffiths then ended up with a FWD Elan, one might question your search parameters.........

Just the fact that he had heard bad things about Griffs was the line. Because somebody had given duff info, he was put off buying something that he wanted and would have loved.

I spoke to a PHer during a summer evening PH meet, who would refuse point blank to have another TVR, regardless of model (he had a Griff 5.0 btw), due to having a complete lemon of a car.
Conversley, he bought a new Lotus Eclat in 1976 which was such a bag of nails that he swore that he's never have another Lotus.
Even little things can totally destroy your enthusiasm for a car. I ran a nearly new 3 Series BMW for 12 months. It had the world's most annoying squeak that was almost impossible to trace and made using the car a misery.
I could have happily parked it in a field and set fire to it, such was my frustration. I eventually found that mechanism in the driver's seat belt catch was the culprit. Once the problem had been diagnosed, it took me two minutes to fix and cost nothing more than a squirt of oil.
But the damage was done and I hated the thing....

Feel the need to intervene here. I know Gazboy, and though he may not be a TVR owner, he's certainly not a Brand Nazi. What he says is true of any marque, and he's under no illusion that there isn't good and bad in any enthusiast's car.
At VMax a fortnight ago, Gazboy was grinning and raving as much when he got out of the TVRs as I was when I got out of his MR2 (don't make assumptions!). Just because he chooses to own something else doesn't mean he's not a fan of our cars, or that he can't see that they're something of an ownership handful (much like his own, or even a Lotus Elan!)
