Nearly there. I started by creating the shape of the spoiler on the old boot with foam that I shaved to profile . . Then laid over it 2 layers of fibreglass Matt. . all marked up for the reinforcement which will be nylon rope wrapped in fibreglass.

So far it weighs just over 1.2kg. By comparison the old boot weighed nearly 8kg.

Fitted. Just needs some tweaks to improve the fit, a little filling and tidying up and spraying black .

No bother Jes... I like pretty too lol. I am keen to see what it looks like and weighs once.painted etc. Personally I would probably have less of a spoiler on mine, but if its nice and strong too I may be inclined to copy (assuming ok with you that is!!?)

edited to say looking at pics closer, doesntlook at big as I first thought!!

Dave, copying is the greatest form of flattery so be my guest. If you want to borrow my old boot as a mould that's fine. I wouldn't say its strong as if you push on it it will flex in the centre but it is strong enough for what I need. It doesn't seem to deform - tested up to 130mph so far and seems ok. So far reinforced underneath and with fittings which weigh a lot cos they are steel it's 1.6kg. I am looking for decent alloy fittings. I still need to belt sand it before painting so that should offset the weight of the paint

perry - you are so right. After you email i bought some but then didn't use it - dumb! just a thought - as golf balls fly better with dimples will a slightly rough finish be better than a super smooth one?

The boot is fitted. Not a prefect finish but it only weighs 1.7 kg. plenty of time to make it pretty later. It's secured with 3 pins.
