Have you checked that the metal wires supporting the foam seat base havent rusted through?
Not too uncommon and if this has happened you will be sitting lower than you should. It only takes 10 mins to get the 4 bolts under the car undone to remove the seat so might be worth checking.

I'm 5ft 10.5in and have the seat fully forward . Yes I think the seat mounts can be moved forward with new mount holes. However, just checked the cross outrigger tube interferes with the two front bolts and can not be moved forward. Will need a forward extension bracket inside the cabin floor. Can be done. I think the seat could be raised with suitable lift spacers. Just need 2in of head space before hitting the roof wearing an Andy Cap flat cap stuffed with bubble wrap.

1. The pedals can be moved nearer to you - they are each on a long screw thread with a nut behind to lock them in place

3. Get the seat out and let your Meccano imagination run riot. Just jack the car up and support it, then lie down on the drive with a 13 mm socket spanner and remove your nuts and washers. Two immediately visible, two you have to feel for (no smutty giggling at the back
). Roof off, lift out the seat minding your paint work. You can then think about spacers, longer bolts etc etc. and possibly drilling 4 new holes a couple of inches further forwards.

They have raised the seat by about an inch,and because they are offset also moved the whole seat a couple
Of inches nearer.

I'm not so much vertically challenged but a bit horizontally challenged (I've got shortish legs and a longish body).
I have moved the seat as far forward as it will go but it hits the transmission tunnel and wound the pedals backwards and I am OK but I would also like to move the seat upwards and forward for Mrs Mac (yes really, I'm not joking....) so am interested in any good solutions - haven't really come up with any myself right now. This has been the subject of a number of past threads.
I don't know if any of this lot would do? Need to get over the problem of the seat hitting the transmission tunnel:

How about swapping passenger and drivers seats over?
I did mine cos the seat base was saggy and the outer bolsters were. Ok. But begining to crack up.
The less used passenger seat was a good couple inches higher .
Im 5, 11 3/4 and i have the seat all the way forward (although it has been re drilled 2inches back in the floor
For the benefit of my 6'4 co driving friend)

Fit a Tuscan drivers seat.....
Griff seats are dreadfull with no lower back support and they sag, I finally fitted a Tuscan seat and it has transformed the car and the driving position. It's now aprox 2 inches ? higher and I feel much safer and more in control, particularly when tramping on. I'm 5-10 and circa 32 leg and this suits me fine.
The driving position is now similar to a pals phase 2 MX5.
MX 5 seats are also good ( people fit them to E Types ) but they do suffer from sagging bases.

Great advice, thanks. Nearly had a hernia trying to follow Glyns advice so opted for the 'raisers' idea instead. There in the post now. Interesting about the quality of the Griff' seats. I was considering paying to have them refurbished but is there any point if it's simply a bad design in the first place. I'm sure the Tuscan seats are hugely expensive. For now, at least, I'll stick with the raisers.
