help any one else had this problem when revs reach 4500 rpm

It's supposed to advance the timing with revs. The amount of advance is determined by some ickle weights and springs inside the dizzy, which can be modified to suit different engines. I think the standard TVR RV8 dizzy will produce full advance by about 4000 rpm, but perhaps the RV8 experts here can confirm. If you're saying yours produces an extra jump at 4500 rpm, that doesn't sound quite right. I wonder if either the vac advance is playing up, or you have a mechanical fault inside the dizzy. Timing would normally be set with the vac advance disconnected.

So would that explain the VTEC style jump I feel?

Could a fault with this also explain the occasional "lump" I have noticed when at constant revs on long journeys? (not a regular thing though)
