Noticed some drips of oil on the oil pressure sender whilst fitting the new starter motor.

is it likely or common that the oil pressure send leaks from the wire connection point. it seems to work ok BTW

Where is the best place to get this part - what is it off ?

If it's working, I'd put some ptfe tape around the thread & see if that cures the drip. Racing green have them for £55/£46 serp/preserp. I'm sure they're available from another source without the 'TVR tax'.

is the fitting 1/8 npt ?

does the range of the sender dictate the calibration as I see there are 7 and 10 bar versions available

it seems to be weeping round the wire connection point not the junction.

current one is plastic bodied.

I've had a couple recently. X-Works get them from Power and they had a dodgy batch but that seems to be sorted now. They exchanged mine when it leaked again after a couple of months.

Have a read of this: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

There is 3 pages of it, but the end result is a sender for approx £16.00 all in inc delivery and it is way more accurate than the original.
Mines been on for over 2 years and is 100% reliable.

Mine has been dripping for last 4 years. No worries. On gauge pressure 35 when start up from cold. Drops to about 10 or less when on hot tick over. Unable to tell with certainty where the drip is coming from. Front crank oil seal? Will now satisfy paranoia! and check it out sometime.

That is where mine was leaking from, seems the resin nets go. Brought a 'new old stock' from the classifieds for £20 odd. Same guy pops up every now and again selling them.
