Wheel Upgrade on TVR Griffith 500
Discussion
Morning all, first post on here so be kind to me
I've been given the task to source, and fit suspension, brakes and new wheels to a friends TVR Griffith 500. It's a 1999 car on an S reg.
We have so far gone for the following...........
Gaz Gold Coilovers
Ap Racing 4 pot calipers with 2 piece Discs up front running 330x28mm rotors.
320mm rear 2 piece disc upgrade
Wheel wise, i need to know what the best ET would be to go with? I've done some searching but its all a bit confusing to me. We will be going stagered fitment, so 17" fronts, 18" Rears.
If im correct, as the car has power steering, we can run 215's up front without too many issues, or heavy steering feel, then 245 on the rears.
As i say, i'm just after advice on what ET to go with. Do people run 7.5j up front? and 8j rears? or would it be advised to go 7j front and 8j rears?
Any help would be greatly appreciated....
Whilst im on here aswell. A little about myself. I'm currently working for a company called ZF Services, Global company who deal with driveline, sttering and suspension for many applications. I deal with the warranty side of things for Clutch, Steering, suspension and rubber to metal components, so any advice that is needed, please let me know and i'll try and assist further.
My own car i have an Ink Blue Mondeo ST220 Saloon, with some quite tasteful mods to it. for something that started off as a family car....... is quite a bit different now
Cheers
Dan

Coincidentally have been researching this myself! Standard is 7.5 J front, ET25 and 8 J rear, ET 35. I've found the following site very useful for (virtually) experimenting with different options; http://www.willtheyfit.com/

I run these on my Griff (both 40's) with PAS with no issues...tyres less 'available' (eg T1R's) than other sizes though....Paul.
Originally i was going to go 18's all round.... however, he wants the staggered fitment, which has caused me an issue as originally i wanted to go for some Michelin Pilot Super Sports. Absolutely amazing tires, and the deals i have found on them at the minute was a bargain! however, no 215/40/17 option on those

Cheers for that link Simon, based on that fact then we could potentially run an 8.5j rear wheel and 245/40/18 without too many issues by the looks of it. Tiny amount of stretch on the tire will help pull the top part in too im thinking when the car is lowered slightly with the new shocks on.neutral 3 said:
Throw those shocks over the nearest hedge and fit Bilsteins yellow Sports.....
How come?? Speaking to a few people they have said the Gaz shocks will be more than ample for what we need them to do........... We did look at Nitron's to begin with, but were told unless its going to be track focus'd, then the GAZ ones will do the job no bother.Gassing Station | Griffith | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
