Carpet template anyone?
Discussion
Has anyone had their Griff carpets out and made a template to get new ones made.
Have you still got the templates?
Would Chimaera carpets fit in a Griff?
Failing that, anyone know a good trimmer in Notts/Derby/Leics area I could get my Griff done at and how much it costs - roughly to the nearest ten bob will do.

Bet you're asking this because Coverdale Carpets have only got a Chimaera template???
I've contacted them a few times over the past few months to see if they've done a Griff and therefore acquired some templates - they still haven't done one, so they'd have to use my carpets as templates, meaning tearing the lot out at once
A full set for a Chim is only £200-250 ish, and from what I've read on the Chim forum, the quality is very good.
Go on, be the first

Dead right.
I can't believe they don't have a Griff yet. I'm not too thrilled at the prospect of ripping out all my carpets just so I can order some more, they aren't that bad so the risk/gain odds are not good.
Damned good price though, so it is tempting. It can't be that difficult to fit carpets in these things after all can it?
I'll let you know if I bite the bullet.
I will be ripping my carpets out next week, I'm having the seats/door cards etc re-covered and the carpets will be going to coverdale to be used as templates, I assume they will make some card or ply templates and therefore should be able to supply Griff carpet sets in the near future. I'll post on PH when they have my carpets and anyone needing new carpets can then contact them make the order.
Thanks Budd.
I wonder if its worth talking to them. Theres a few of us here want new carpets, we might get a discount or a brucie bonus.
I'm certainly ready to put an order in with them, got the swatches from them on Friday and I like their dark blue.
Does your rollbar go through the flat section behind the seats, I can get that out of mine and send it to them if it would help.

Yes my roolbar does indeed bolt on through the carpeted parcel shelf/load area(?)behind the seats, and I did need to cut the carpet to fit round the rollbar mounting points. This as not effected the basic shape of the carpet section so I think it will be fine for making a template, although when I take the carpets over to them I'll ask them what they recomend with regard to cars not fitted with a rollbar.

Just spoke to Coverdale - 01942 255535 - and they do a 5% discount on 5 sets of carpets
- saving about a tenner each
Could be worth doing if we can swing more of a discount or get some freebies Cheers Budd
At last, no more 'orrible stained 'flint' carpets

Not exactly local but Trimtec 0121-557-9977 are near Dudley train station near Brum and have done a number of Griffiths (and other TVRs) for me and use to do all the old Team Central TVR work. They'll turn your car around in 2/3 days.

I'm ripping my carpets out in the new year (its going to be my new years resolution to get it done). I bought the carpet, piping and various bits of sound deadening felt from Woolies Trim ages ago and havent got around to doing it yet. Theres a skip at work which has always got loads of cardboard in it. I will quite happily spend an extra evening cutting out and labelling cardboard templates if it would prove useful to someone. You'd have to collect the templates or pay postage and obviously I'm only going to be arsed to cut out one copy so it would be first come first served. Or perhaps we could start a PH trim-template library?
I'll also be taking loads of pics of the location of each piece (to aid re-fitting) and I'll post them (along with any useful tips I come up with) on my website when its done.
