I am about to fit Nitrons and poly bushes on my Griff and have just stripped all suspension parts both front and rear. The only problem I came across were the bushes for the front anti roll bar.

Has anyone managed to remove them without removing the radiator/fans? I can not reach the lower bolt. Any advice is welcome! Or did all hours on the garage floor make me miss the solution?

Coala,
Yes can be done without removing rad, did it a while ago but I think I got the bottom bolt from underneath, the top from above. Used an elbow joint on the socket to get to it.
Hope this helps.
Cheers

I believe it is necessary to move (not necessarily remove) the radiator.

By the way where did you get your bushes from, as I need the rollbar bushes and the gease to install them all?

Thanks for the replies! Even if the contradicted each other...

I will give it a go later this week. This time with some new tools and energy. I only had fixed sockets available.

I bought the bushes from TMS. They were not available in poly though (the roll bar ones), only in standard rubber. Thought of doing my own in some better material, but I guess I will settle for the standard ones.

question for KDN grif. The bushes are standard ford rubbers. They wear out very quickly and the handle will worsen. Are they bushes you mentioned made from better material then the standard bushes. I have to replace the standard bushes about once or twice a year. It can be done without removing radiotor though. So does anyone know where to get better bushes???

They are purple poly bushes and have been OK now for about a year (5,000 road miles). I changed mine when I rebuilt all the front suspension so was easy to fit - it looks very awkward with the rad still in place. To re-iterate - mine was for a 4.0 pre-cat and 22mm - not sure about the 500's.

For the Griff 500, the front ones are 7/8 and the rear 3/4.

I made it, 1/10 turn at a time, without moving the rad! Amazingly, the front anti roll bar took 25% of all time spent dismantling all suspension part (and I mean all) on the car... Hhmmm

Yeah, you need a cranked ring spanner (19mm IIRC) which isn't too cranked (or it won't clear the chassis rail)!

Homebase do a full set of 10 spanners, £2.99 or something. The 19mm does the job just right.
