Main beam light units

Two big stone chips hits today, both on the near side main beam unit. Replacements are certainly expensive from the usual TVR parts suppliers, however, what is the difference between the highly desirable "original" light units and the alternative replacements other than aesthetics.

Both lights are marked Cibie 0488047 and are identical. pictures below. Are these the cheaper BMW sourced and available "replacements units" ?
