After months and months of trying to cool down my 92 4.3BV down I finally invested some money and bought a Docking Engineering aluminium radiator, To say the results are spectacular is an understatement. I am now looking at putting a warmer thermostat in and the fans, which have been upgraded to Cerbera, are only required when the car is left on tickover, If I set off with the fans on the air flow through the radiator cools it down in no time, I know its not summer but for me the results are spectacular.

The std rads (land rover are shit) - I have just gotton and alloy replacement for my LS6 engined Chimp. Sweet.

ditto, now runs cold.

had to block off half the rad coming back from the 'ring to get the heater to warm the car!

At the risk of being dim, what does ali rad do that Modwise doesn't? I invested in the latter before touring France last year. Whilst ladyfriend & I were dying of heatstroke in 36C traffic jams, Griff heater gauge never got above horizontal. Excellent piece of kit!

Skip I would guess your car is post 92 when a lot of cooling improvements along with an engine change were made.

skip, if the guage never gets above horizontal...its broke! atleast on mine it should be vertical. however if its reading "normal" at 36 degrees theres nothing wrong with the system.

however mine, which has an A/C condenser in front, would struggle to keep it under control at 36 degrees (summer in italy) with water wetter, splitters, cool thermostat etc.
New ally rad...freezing!

Rad works by seriously improving thermal conductivity and effective area...all the time. a distictive improvement for the system.

the modwise kit (as i've seen them) use the fans (or fan) to control the heat in the early stages with a secondary stage (fan 2) when things get tough. there is no improvement as such, but it is MUCH better managed. this is sufficient in MOST cases and is certainly MUCH cheaper!

if you need a new radiator...upgrade!
if you want to improve the already coping system...upgrade with modwise!



ofcourse you COULD upgrade to ally radiator with electric water pump and sensors!
