GKN Diff - Spreader, special tool
Discussion
A bit of a wild card. I want to renovate my GKN diff. Apart from all the bearings and seals being as rare as rocking horse s
t, you also need a spreader to take the tension of the diff innard's bearings. It's a Land Rover special tool.
I was thinking of making one or even using my 20 tonne press (a bit risky perhaps) but on the off-chance someone might have one.....?
I know I can send the diff away and I have spoken to John Reid of Readman Racing but I just fancy having a go myself. Pete

Hi Pete, I will tackle most jobs confidently, but decided to have my GKN Diff professionally refurbished (about three years ago now). I used 'Complete Transmission Services' also known as The Gearboxman - http://www.gearboxman.co.uk/

John Reid also helped in supplying a mint replacement crownwheel & Pinion, he knows them at CTS and sent the parts directly. They know what they are doing and setup the diffs properly. In fact they called me to say that there would be a delay in returning it to me because they were not happy with it and wanted to setup the loads again. I must say the reconditioned diff is quiete and smooth, all credit to their professional expertise! Regards, Pete
