Is anything more comfy?
Discussion
Just came back in my Griff, from dropping one of my kids off at a friend's house. I had the roof and windows down because it's quite mild.
Anyway, as I sat there in fourth gear (which is good for just about any speed), with my right arm resting in the door and my left arm resting on the transmission, I thought to myself "this has got to be the most comfortable driving position I've ever experienced".
I've got a BMW and wife's fot a Toyota MPV and neither of them come even close.

I always found longer journeys on my Griff a bit of a pain - mainly due to the lack of lumbar support in the seat. But it was much worse in my second Griff than the first so I wonder if the later seats were improved any.
Got to agree though - the boulster on the tunnel and the position of the door rest made for great comfy one finger on the steering wheel cruising

I'm almost tempted to buy a Griff seat and transmission to put in my lounge in front of the telly!
I've just swapped the original seats out of my Griff for some Cerbera seats.
I put the idea of making a 'sofa' from the original ones to the missus and was gobsmacked when she agreed!
TVR in the garage and TVR in the lounge - what could be better.

If my missus was that agreeing, I'd be a little suspicious!

Na, she really is a sweetie.
I've dragged her to all sorts of motorsport events and she suffers them all, only moaning the once really about being bored at the 2004 Melbourne GP - I ask you, BORED!!
She did draw the line this year at camping at LeMans though. So I've got a different co-pilot whilst she takes his missus to Spain for the week.
Camping at LM? Don`t bother packing a tent - spent THE most comfortable night asleep at the wheel of my Griff in the car park! (Wheel infront preferable to not being able to stretch out in the shorter passenger footwell)
Friend spend the night in a cocoon sleeping bag on the ground behind and was sore all day.
Pair of us got snapped and printed in Top Gear mag..our guard was down....

I went to LM with my son and a few friends. My mates all took single birth tents. Me and my lad took a 6 birth tend with two double liloes and loads of pillows and covers. I slept like a baby!!

That's how I judge a sports car: right arm resting atop the steering wheel, left on the transmission tunnel - turn to the passenger and say, "How're you doing, sweetheart?" If that feels good, it's a great sports car.
Changing the subject LA, I'm taking the wife to LA in August (without the kids). So, I'm looking for a hotel which is near Hollywood (for me) but where my wife can relax by the pool. Ideally four or five stars. Can you recommend any particular establishments?

Are Griffs more comfortable than Chimaera's (which imo has a crap driving position)?
Personally I find both chronicallyuncomfortable if you want to drive rather than take a nap.
Much much too sloppy for spirited driving - your arse slides around like you're on a fairground ride if you don't have a harness, and the lumbar support sits about 3" too low if you're more than a midget (5'10" with a 34" inside leg since you're asking), which results in lower back pain unless you slide down and adopt the 'navigate by the stars' position
. On the list for mine this year is a retrim with adjustable lumbar support and stiffened and raised bolsters so that the seats look original but actually hold you in the driver's seat when you go round corners

Sorry to go OT - but can you provide a bit more info' Starmist? I agree with Rude Girl, the originals are excellent seats for gentle driving but far too slippy for track driving. A harness helps (a lot) but a specialist seat would be better still. I was thinking of the Sparco Evo but reluctant to just buy one without some idea as to whether it will fit and whether I could put up with sitting in it for normal driving.
The one I've got fitted is a Sparco Junior. I don't think they make it any more, but the replacement is about teh same cost. You ned to be careful of a racing seat with 'wings' as these will foul the door.
I know it's been done with Sparco Off Road seats, but these are over twice the price.
