Just 1 this year but it's a new place so I have no point of reference.

Kind of felt sorry for this little guy, we used to see him pinching nuts from one of the bird feeders. He took a chance too many by coming round into the garage though, no love lost when it comes to chewed wiring !

Also surrounded by woods and often see a rat in the garden of in the chicken enclosure.

Rat or mice poison keep them at bay.

When we bought our house it had been empty for some time. The first few nights were "interesting" listening to hundred running around the loft over our heads and under the first floor floorboards yikes

Also in the garage as I found a stack of energy and chocolate bars completely demolished, just empty wrappers left!

I occasionally get one at my workshop, one did manage to chew through an alarm wire so not too chuffed but they tend to head for the kitchen where I leave food out to trap them.
I know it wont stop as the workshop is next to fields but also I hate to kill them so just take them a few miles away and let them go.

Its quite fun seeing just how clever then little buggers are, the most recent one outwitted my traps 3 times before I got him. 2 pieces of welding wire and a piece of sausage strung across the top of a kitchen bin. Once in they cant get out, but could jump half the height!

I used to catch them regularly as my garage is adjacent to a field.
I now have the plug in repellers and haven't had any for the last few years. I bought a pack of 4 and they recommend one per room, needless to say all four are in the double garage.

How do you tell when these are on or off, or worn out/dead ?

Either way could either of you recommend make/model please....Thanks

I use these:

The way I can tell is that I would catch mice every week in traps until I plugged these in a few years ago. The traps have been empty since.

We have 12 chickens and even though it's winter and they produce less we haven't had any for a few weeks.

It seems the rats have been taking them! Anyhow, some rat bait in places and eggs are back on the menu.

I have this vision of one running away from my garage holding one of the ashtrays that fall out of the door when you slam them and giving me 2 fingers wink
