Interesting to see the 500's book price almost 50% higher than the smaller engined precats.......I don't know how they justify that much difference though......the crowded British roads and speed limits ensure the slight performance difference can't be used anyway. Almost 50% difference to 'top trump' the pub talk.....is it really worth it in the real world I wonder

I don't agree you can lump all the non-500 cars together. So I'd take the prices in brackets with a pinch of salt.
But then I would say that being as I own a (pre-cat 4.3)

I drove the 500 and pre-cat 4.3 back to back, and quickly dismissed the 500 (even though it appeared to be offering better value for money in the nearly new market)= far less sparkle and character, just muffled low down grunt imho..the 4.3 is probably the best - TVR guru John Eales also reckons it to be the best choice, even over the BV...his words, not mine. - The sound of a 4.3 cannot fail to raise a smile - loved the mid range wedges too...and the V8s and of course the SEAC ..Gov. Moggies are not for everyone!

Why 500s seem to attract more £s on sales market is a mystery to me and I am a firm believer that, with time it will turn back in favour of the purer variant, in the same way a carb Ferrari is preferred over injection, despite the latter probably being more powerful and a little more modern (ie in early 308s)

Not that I want prices to sky rocket as I dont believe in using cars or private homes as investment tools, (drives up servicing costs, changes the type of follower and tempts you to sell if prices go silly) -it wouldnt surprise me to see them swapping positions around the £29k mark in a couple of years..

This is good news. Feel like I'm buying my SE at almost the perfect time.

THe classic market currently appears to be plagued by 'investors' 'Bulling' market prices

The Afa GTV market consists of a number of individuals buying several cars and then hyping values in the media and leaving adverts online at stupid prices to delude potential buyers to pay over the odds. - A decent GTV can still be bought for under £3k, however using the magic words 'fast growing classic' or similar they list their cars from £6-15k ! - I was in the market, however I have had this attitude waved in my face so much that it leaves an unpleasant taste and am now considering better value options, without the confrontation of having to defuse pretentious pricing each time a suitable car comes available
