Hi Chaps,

Here we go again...I have searched the archives and found some answers but not all...hope you can help..

1. Where do you buy them? Direct from Guy at Nitron £850+ does this include dampers and springs and will I need new bushes, bolts etc? could someone give me a contact number for Guy.

2. Fitting - Am I missng something here or is this just a case of undoing 8 bolts removing old and putting on the new? Do you need any special tools (to get in between the wishbones)??

3. Setting up. yes - the hard part, I assume there are two settings per damper - ride height and stiffness. Is there a 'factory type' setting for a griff. I.e could someone post a good starting point for 10 (say for general road use) and I can 'tweek' from there???

This seems too straight forward to me?? Please fill me in on the details!!

Regards,
Lig.

Try Joolz at www.joospeed.co.uk

Knows his cookies.

Was very helpful when I made a similar enquiry a couple of days ago.

He'll fit them for you and set them up how you want them.

Contact details for Nitron are on their web site, and if you asked them I'm sure they would tell you about springs, end fittings and so on.

The early Nitron NTX dampers needed additional spacers if the bearing type end fittings were used, however some NTR Nitrons I bought more recently came with all end fittings. The bolts are reusable. If you are using the bush type end fittings you will want to retain the thrust washers from the original setup, these may need replacing if they are worn. I don't know whether Nitron would be able to supply replacements but if not then any TVR dealer/specialist should be able to.

You will need to spec the spring rates (or let Nitron recommend a standard set for that car), set the ride height and damper rates, and I strongly recommend that you get a geometry setup done too.

1 - Guy @ Nitron

2 - No

3 - Speak to Guy and he'll talk you through spring rates. I am very happy with 350/275, gives an improvement over standard without overly harsh ride.

I run my damping a lot lower than most, can't seem to understand why at the moment. Just seems everyone has has decided that to get the performance they must be rock solid, my experience is different and my dental bill proves it !! We're talking about a difference of 12 clicks, there are 25 from min to max !!

The springs will settle after you've fitted them anyway, so ride height is something you have to continue to play with. As the ride height will affect all the camber settings etc, I find it is worth putting the dampers on, set a ride height you are happy with and wait until the springs settle, once they have, then adjust the ride height and camber etc afterwards ...

Otherwise once the car drops on the springs you will have to reset the settings, unless Joolz etc can get round this some how ?

yup, I run different springs to Nitron, and they suffer less from the sag issue.

and very nice they are too . Just need a driver who knows what he's doing to set it up better, had PeterH point out my front was way too soft compared to the rear recently .

The only thing I would add is if you are going to spend £1000+ don't spoil the ship and get the car corner weighted.
It is absolutely essential to get the best out of any suspension upgrade.

He's done them for a few V8S's so I would imagine he's done loads of the more common cars .

Joolz can you go into a bit more detail, such as spring rates for the Griff etc. ? Cheers Rich...
