On the way back from Le Mans the car died at 70mph on the A34 at Oxford
I managed to roll to an exit and after checking everything looked OK in the engine bay I checked fuses.
Nothing wrong there either so is the fuel pump priming - No.

Aha! Changed one of the Bosch relays and it started first time.

I love the simplicity of the Griff. In 10 years it hasn't left me stranded yet.

I'm wondering if its worth creating a section in the Griff Parts List with a simple checklist of what to do in a breakdown?
If so what do you check first and how?

When you say you changed do you mean swapped or you carry spares?

Which one failed?

I carry a couple of spare Bosch relays specifically for the ones in the dangly mess in the footwell Rich. Everyone should carry these as an absolute minimum. It should be an offence punishable by a slap with a wet fish for anyone found without at least one.

I've got an emergency throttle cable, piece of twin & earth to bypass the otter switch, emergency boot opening doofer and a fire extinguisher.

I take it a few of the relays are the same?

Jesus, where do I start.

From memory - but I'll check later and confirm

Dizzy cap
Rotor Arm
HT King lead
HT Longest lead
Coil
Ignition Amp
Bosch relays for fuel pump
Indicator relay
Fan belt, (well, not strictly a fan belt any more are they but you know what I mean)
Box of various fuses and a fuse puller
Bulbs
5m of black wire and spade connectors
loop with a spade on each end for bypassing the otter switch
Expansion cap
Propshaft UJ
Throttle cable (I think! Need to check this)
Gaffer tape
Insulating tape
Various tools incl 2 cans of tyreweld and a pump
ECUMate
Bible.

Underneath the passenger footwell carpet is a laminated fusebox/relay layout and fuse puller.
Each fuse use has been verified as there are differences to any of the fusebox layouts in the Bible.

And of course when I'm travelling to/from Le Mans I always have a bog roll in the boot wink

Where do you put the roof with all that in the boot?

Why a propshaft UJ? It stands out as a bit weird. I wouldn't want to change that on the hard shoulder.

The prop UJ is an odd one I grant you. But in France it would be easy to find someone to fit a UJ but difficult to find somewhere to buy one. So its easier to have one on board just in case. And its small so insignificant in the great scheme of things.

I have a split roof which sits nicely on top of a full boot.

Don't see the point of keeping an "emergency boot opening doofer" in the boot!

I don't have split roof and therefore technically have no boot. All my stuff is behind the passenger seat. biggrin

Never ever swap them, they are interlinked. You could be taking yourself down a blind alley if you do this. Always replace!
