Never used my air con and wondering if it's time to remove the pump and drive belt and pulley etc. Guessing this will help the car build revs faster and release a bit more power ? But it looks more involved than just removing the unit and belts.
If it does, when the clutch isn't engaged, power loss is negligible - the freewheeling pulley should spin free as a bird. I would imagine a PAS pump saps more power than a disengaged A/C compressor.
I removed my A/C as part of my supercharger build. Apart from the fact that the A/C is rubbish, I did notice the fans came on less as the air flow hit the radiator directly instead of the A/C radiator.
