What is the modern equivalent of the Griff?

So...I was driving home today and really enjoying the Griff. I love the drama and theater of the whole experience. The linear power delivery is amazing and what makes it different from any other car I have owned or have driven. Recently my Dad has bought a 996 turbo and whilst if feels ultimately faster, the Griff definitely feels quicker and more savage.
It got me thinking what is the closest that you can get to a Griff in a more modern package? Ideas please all.

Well, the current British, hand built in a shed, front engine, RWD, using a dated V8, being a two door convertible with a cramped interior, offering massive sense of occasion but with a questionable warranty is......

If you don't wear a flat cap, you might have to look America way. The latest Corvette C7 perhaps? That's cheap and cheerful V8 fun that keeps up with greater priced stuff; much like the TVRs of the day bragged Ferrari beating performance times.
Chris Harris has just released a surprisingly complimentary sixth gen Mustang review. These are both simple RWD V8s that are value for money vs. bang for the buck.....
Jag F type is a good call though. I just find it very hard to find a modern car with a 'soul' when its controlled by super-computers and built by robots. Perhaps there is no modern equivalent.
I am seriously hoping the new TVR will answer this question but I am concerned modern-day regulation will strangle it.

It's only half of eight cylinders , it is not petrol, it's German and I love it. SLK 250 CDI AMG. 500nm from 1800 rpm. Average mpg since I got it, 38 mpg ( it apparently will do 60 odd) and that's having fun. The roof is a movement in art, black with black red piped leather, it looks fab next to the black Griff. Ok the griff would see it off, well it would if I could be bothered to get it on the road.
Ok ,Camaro ss convertable then if not diesel German . This year my 6 th summer rental in the U.S. With one., More expensive than the SLK though, you can turn all the bits offf, as you can with the SLK, it drifts nicely. Of course we can go silly with prices , but the griff was not supercar , the SLK would be around the same I guess ?

Sad times. Mpg figures, electric roof, can't be arsed to get the Tvr out. We have an XKR-S (similar to the 5L V8 supercharged F type, 550 BHP) in addition to our 4L Griffith so get to compare them often enough. And there really is no comparison. The Jag has massive power and speed but lacks so much feel that I don't find it that easy to use the power. But its great for a long comfortable and classy run.
The TVR, whist in principle more potentially dangerous, has so much feel that in many ways I feel safer in it at speed.
But its good to have the choice!

Bang for bucks it must be the new Mustang, even more so now it's coming in RHD. That IMHO is what Les and the new TVR will be up against. A bit of a role reversal as the Mustang at £35k will be making the TVR justify its price on the traditional thrills per pound scale. Looking forward to seeing what's going to be on offer.
