Need to remove the factory fitted Pioneer DEH-535 to sort a faulty speaker connection (hardly every use it but it is bugging me). Is there a knack to doing this before I end up damaging my newly veneered dash?

assuming you have the correct removal keys, it is a simple operation.

1) remove the outer trim ring

2) insert key either side of radio

3) either push keys towards each other or away from each other and pull unit out.

no more than five minutes

Thanks for identifying what I thought were a couple of useless pieces of metal that I recently discarded! Thanks for the Ebay link.

Halfords sell a selection of removal keys, which blasts a huge hole in the security element of the radios, a bit like selling locking wheel nut keys....

Would anyone happen to have a service manual or wiring diagram for the factory fitted Pioneer DEH-534/5R?

Yes I tried Googling and came up with same link. Unfortunately even though you get the front page, there is no way to download the service manual. Just a load of ads. So if anyone knows what colour wire does what, it would be appreciated.

Mine is a DEX-P88R. If it helps Grey label=Subwoofer. Green label=rear speakers. White label=Front speakers.

The DEX-P88R is powered by a separate amplification, 5.0Ltr has 2 round amplifiers (either side of the rear speakers) behind your bulkhead panel, in the boot.

If you click the link in my post and go the table with the light blue and white rows, click 635 and that will take you to the full service manual pdf. If you have probs, pm me your email address and I'll send the pdf doc. The 635R, 535R, 534R all seem to be covered by the same manual.
