Looking to do this and want to put a link between the 20am connection and the 5am/3am existing connector.
Does anyone know what I need for the 20am end - assume its a 3 pole junior timer like this one:
http://www.vehicle-wiring-products.eu/product.php/...
Also where can I get a male connector for the 5am which is a 5 pole connection.

Are you changing/rescaling the map for the 20AM?

Yes, and no chance- the only males you can get is if you strip a 5AM to bits to remove the male connectors. Mind you there is nothing to stop you leaving the 5AM wiring as is, and splicing a 20 AM cable and connector onto the required connections in parallel. You will have to cut the CO trim wire from the 5AM, and then put a 1k ohm 10 turn variable into the loom from this wire to ground. This trim pot can then be used on both the 5AM and 20 AM. You can then swap between the 5AM and 20 AM to your hearts content.

Just a warning shot about the 20 AM- you dont want to put one on the smaller engines, as you will only get part of the voltage range out of the unit-so you dont reach the bottom of the fuel map, so you loose map resolution in the process, even if you remap the remaining cells to compensate for the lower voltage, and there is no power gain anyway.

Mark,
What do you mean by smaller?

Would do, yes. By "you" read someone who knows what they are doing.

If you fit it to a 3.9 it wont get near the bottom of the map- At a hardware level you might only reach 4 volts at full airflow, so you loose 20% of your resolution in the process for no gains. I think you need to be over 250 BHP before fitting a bigger AFM has any advantage.

Joolz performed the conversion to 20am and remap on my 500, very pleased with the end result of 325bhp and 370lb/ft Torque smile

FFG, your profile says Midlands. I am near Newark, and have a 20AM in a 5 litre Chimaera if you want to have a look at how it is wired. Just say on here/pm me.
I had bigger injectors installed as well, plus a remap.

Thanks for that. I'm south of B'ham. I have the 20am just need to source a connector.

The connector is just a 3 pin junior timer .. you just need to solder in a trim resistor as blitz says smile I extend the wiring slightly and also have started putting the trim resistors up near the plenum, by their design they're not really water proof so you don't want it near any bonnet vents etc. I've seen then near the ecu but it can still get wet down there even. If you're making the wiring yourself though you can choose a position best for you .. a long wire run to the boot might not work too well though wink

Hopefully you'll be fitting it anyway. Problem solved then.
No bonnet vents so not an issue for me and it is dry by the ECU, just a bit messy with all the spaghetti.
