tried to start the griff the other night (after a long period of rest - blame the metro/renault/ford latest project ) and i have ignition lights but no starter.

The fuel pump does not kick in but i have had the fusebox out and can feel the ignition relay switching.

So thats no fuel pump and no starter, i have checked all the fuses in the n/s footwell are there any earths that may be my problem??

This is really getting to me now because i can usually work this type of thing out.
its getting to the gallon of petrol and a match and run stage

Battery charged up?

Immobiliser cuts starter, fuel pump & coil I believe, so sounds like this could be the culprit if starter and fuel pump are not operative. Could try dis-reconnecting battery to reset alarm/immobiliser.

The battery is brand new, i fitted about a month ago and has been trickle charged over the last week.

The alarm has not played up before and is a clifford 600 concept which i am led to believe is a good un?

i can put the alarm into valet mode and usually start it up at this setting but not now.

It's a bit of a coincidence for two faults to ocur simultaneously, so the theory of some kind of control relay not working seems sound. However, to rule out mechanical failure completely you could crawl under the car and check for the presence of 12v at the pump and starter relay. Remember that the 12v will only be present for a couple of seconds on the pump after the ignition is turned on because the ECU cuts it, and only re-applies the 12v when the engine's turning.

On second thoughts, you need to make sure that on the fuel pump it is the 12v side which is switched by the relay rather than the 0v side. If it's switched on the 0v side then you can touch a wire from the 0v side to chassis.

Whatever, as long as you measure 12v across the pump, it should turn.

Hope this garbled message helps

Outside guess, Have you tried re-seting the inertia switch, it may have operated for some strange reason( hey its a tvr anythings possible) That cuts power to the fuel pump.
Have you tried testing for volts at the pumpo?
Doesnt answer the starter porblem though
