Dobs of Blue paint on the Front of my Engine and Plenum???
Does anyone know what these mean and/or do you have them too?
My Griff is a 1992 Pre CAT.
I understand some engines were marked in the Engine V with blue paint to identify cylinder wall thicknesses but this paint is just under my heads at the front of the engine and on the back of my Plenum…
Right Front of Engine:-

Left Front of Engine:-

Rear of Plenum:-

Maybe it's to mark the "special" high powered engines built from rare metals ..... Or maybe this is special paint only applied to engines assembled on a Friday afternoon !
You normal mark parts of an assembly to note when bolts etc have been toqued to correct values, or you mark nut & bolt to use as a reference to see if anything has moved. These though are usually small & applied with a marker type pen. The other use of spray is typically on welded joints, again to aid identify cracking .... May not help explain your blue paint though !

Weren't these the Land Rover rejected engines?

http://landroverforums.com/forum/discovery-ii-18/m...Ummm… I’m just curious really…
I’m not convinced it’s the wall thickness grading as it’s on the front of the block and the back of the plenum…
I’m starting to think it’s possibly an early TVR/TVR Power colour code to ensure the correct engine spec and parts (plenum) are brought together and used, but… there was only one standard plenum in 1992….
Just to add to the confusion, I also have yellow/orange dobs of paint on the heads… :-)

Maybe an email to TVR Power would shed some light?
Funny enough, I have emailed Dom twice and rang once reference original engine specifications and possible upgrades in the last 6-9 Months and never got a reply. I’m not convinced he would bother…? Maybe he didn’t get my emails or phone message…?However, I think you’re probably right, he would be the oracle!

Would you Adam and Eve it!
I have just been looking at engine upgrades and what do I see?
Blue Dobs of paint…

Obviously nothing to worry about as V8 Developments don’t seem to be…

Assembly process then?... Wonder if it was carried over to serp engines?
