Exhaust manifold bolts and washers

I highly recommend the 'Nordlock' washers. Used them with standard fixings when replacing my manifolds with a stainless setup a couple of years ago, they stay lovely and tight. They were recommended to me by Tim at ACT (great fella, very helpful). All the best, PeteThat's interesting Pete, because I had nothing but trouble when I fitted my stainless manifolds so I now have ARP bolts and Nordlock washers but I still had gaskets blowing and bolts undoing. Especially on port 7 ( I think. Anyway, furthest back on near side)
It was only when I replaced the manifold gaskets with a bespoke set made to templates I sent off that I seemed to stop having horrendous trouble.'
My advice would be to carefully check your gaskets for any overhang likely to be blocking the gas flow. If your heads have been ported it could be standard gaskets just won't fit correctly and this is the true root cause of your problem.

Hi Ian, I got my gasket set from TVR Power (Powers Performance), they were a great fit. I was a little concerned with using stainless fixings into aluminium which then cycles extremely hot then cold. Found the standard (new set) of plated steel all good. Just had to tweak up the torque after about 100 miles but all OK thereafter when checked. Thanks for the tips. I shall try a set of the ACT bolts and Nordlock washers.
I shall also give Dom a call and talk to him about replacement manifold gaskets. He did my Taraka upgrade a few years back and I assume the exhaust ports were ported, so an original spec gasket may not have large enough holes in it.
Cheers.
Ian.
