If you mean the classic ones are the old steel units they are pretty heavy that wont help the unsprung mass much handling wise.

I had them on my Wedge, years ago & they were ok but as blitz says they're really heavy.

I hope their product has moved on since.

AVO were one of the shocks about 10-12 years ago which were available as a suspension upgrade from one or two TVR Specialists..... they seem to have dropped of the cliff and disappeared in the TVR world.

Many heated discussions threads back in the day about suspension when it was a black mystical art, and various specialists competing for their market share.

Not really much help I know smile

As I'm doing a complete nut 'n' bolt resto,(think £6-8k+..!!) I think I'm going to go for Gaz Gold Pro's... £450 cheaper than Nitro's...My first choice!

Saving £450 on suspension after a £6=8k resto seems to me like a false economy, summat about spoiling the ship for a ha'porth of tar! I spent ££££££ on Ohlins which, at the time, seemed extravagant, but 2 years on I'm over the pain and it seems like a good investment.

The main problem I have is there are quite a few threads that seem to accept the Nitron's require regular rebuilds every couple of years if you are not doing regular track work can you justify the extra cost I have Gaz gold pro on the Tuscan work well on the road suggest you also consider Protech have these on the Griff massive improvement over standard setup. As Glynmo said if you want the best then its Ohlins

I'm not a wealthy man, Glyn...I just paid £10,000 for my griff, because I couldn't afford a £20k example - I also liked the idea of going through the car, making sure that everything is renewed. £450, to me, is the front wishbones and Super-Pro bushes...

Plus, I can always change the dampers later, when im not replacing the leather interior, AND having the chassis blasted and hot flame sprayed...if I feel that they're not up to scratch wink

I just fitted adjustable AVO ally bodied shocks to our M. Cheaper than Nitron but happy to give them a shot. Sure they'll be fine.

All I say is get the dampers hat suit what you want to use your for car... if racing, then different to track day, then different to road and all in between requirements are different as well,,,,,,,, don't fall for this is best threads on here, as it might not be for what you want....

A good salesman will listen to what you want and advise accordingly...... good luck as they all seem to want to upsell

All I say its a personal choice to suit your requirements, so may try to emulate race cars which may not be what you want and/or budget stretches to... no keeping up with the Joneses just what is right for you

Good point, Hoover...
I drove the car from Newcastle, all the way to South Wales; and I absolutely L-O-V-E-D it.!!
I'm looking to restore AND improve it. The dampers/springs look like the original Koni items, under all the underseal...Everywhere!

Fast road, maybe the odd track day...
