Yellow Cars ???

I am still in the long hunt for a Griffith and Iam more and more attracted to a yellow one.

I have never before been a fan of yellow cars but I think it really suits the lines of the Griffith, showing them off really well

What is the general opinion on yellow cars ??? Hairdressery ??? Too posy ???

There is no offence intended to any yellow car owner but I just perceive there is a stigma attached to them...which I do not know if I could live with.

I know what you mean. I was also never a fan of yellow cars until I saw my 400. Some cars look good and some look crap. I think Grifs look good in same yellow as my 400. Have a look at the gallary at the TVR Wedge Pages.

Personally, I think Griffs look better in darker colours (= meaner!). Chimaeras, on the other hand, are the bees knees in yellow! Fernhurst were recently selling a yellow Chim with a black full-leather interior and yellow dials - yum!

But that said, if I wanted a specific Griff enough, it wouldn't matter to me what colour it was. I'd love it just the same! And resprays are always an option.

Seeing as this was not posted to the TVR pages, I will dare to mention my little Fiat. Admittedly I bought it second hand, so did not get to pick the colour, but it is in a rather fetching shade of "Broom Yellow" which I think looks great. It does depend on the car, I must admit, since the yellow SL I saw in Hurley looked like a super sized childs toy.

I think that yellow suits a sports car, even my little barchetta, but personal tastes vary. My next car, hopefully, will be yellow as well. Just waiting to see what the Census looks like in yellow to be sure.

I've always thought a Griff looks good in yellow too - as do Cerbies.

We've got broom yellow Seicento - looks sweet (especially with L plates when I'm teaching my 19 y.o. niece to drive) but everyone picks on it - as I've stated in earlier threads.

I doubt the TVR's would have that problem.

My wife's Seat Ibiza 2.0 16v Cupra looks pretty funky in yellow with white multi-spoke tarmac-rally-style wheels (standard equipment, not aftermarket, I hasten to add)

We had a bright yellow Griff with black interior with yellow stiching. It was great, very in your face yellow too (Firecrest Yellow??)

Lots of people must of liked it because it won two concours awards, in the days when the TVRCC did vote for your favourite car, Mania 97 (Brands) and Mania 98 (Scotland)

Car was very popular with toddlers as well, who used to scream and point when we passed through towns, probably not seen a lego coloured car before.

As we reckoned it was good safety aid, as the outside lane on the motorway used to scuttle inside leaving us a clear passage.

I was advised when choosing the colour of my new Porsche that I (and I quote)

"Shouldn't be afraid of Speed Yellow."

The reasoning behind it is (according to my Porsche dealer) that although a majority wouldn't have a yellow car there are a significant minory of owners who simply MUST HAVE a yellow car - and one of them would surely want my car when trade-in time arrives.

So if you like it - have one. In the end I chose Guards Red, of course: But that's because I'm re-living my youth when I had an old Guards Red 911.

Johno, go for it but it really depends on which shade of yellow? I had a giallofly yellow Chimaera which was stunning! It now belongs to PH member BrightYellowTVR.
Funny thing was that when it was up for sale all the blokes who came to see it loved it but their wives/girlfriends didn't!

A lot of it depends on the yellow... the TVR colours look good, as do Fiats... whilst the Corrado and Calibra yellow were horrid... IMHO of course.

Now that's a bit weird - I thought we girlies were meant to be into yellows and purples and things??

Johno, forgot to mention in my earlier mail that I've heard insurers give slightly lower premiums for yellow cars as they're less likely to have an accident. Don't know if it's true, but it's a good story.

Very true, there are some cars motoring about in "Post-it Note" yellow.

Very true, there are some cars motoring about in "Post-it Note" yellow.

HH's Tamora demo was in Primrose yellow which is the TVR post-it note colour. What makes it worse is that my mate has bought it!

If you are going to have yellow IMHO it has to be YELLOW!!!!!! and not a dumbed down tonal variant.

I was never totally convinced of Yellow bodywork on Griffs until I saw one in pearlecent yellow (Midas Halcyon). It flipped between a deep orange colour and a really bright yellow, though not as dramatically as a reflex colour, and just looked spectacular to me.

Its parked outside now actually so it would be safe to assume it changed my mind :-)

There are some foul shades of yellow out on the roads but all the TVRs I’ve seen (apart from maybe one Tuscan) look stunning. I considered a yellow Chimaera earlier this year – just found another in better condition.

It would certainly get you noticed re your other thread :-)

Explanation to this comment is that a study carried out by Autocar a few years ago discovered that people who buy Yellow cars also prefer expensive lingerie...
