I have just purchased a vented bonnet from Fibreon, and unfortunately, it fouls on the cap...I was told that there is a lower fitting (thinner??) cap for the resevoir

Anyone had this problem, or know anything about a different cap.??

Anyone on here know anything about a lower fitting resevoir cap?

My new vented bonnet, fouls on the existing one, and I was told that there is a lower fitting(thinner??) cap...

Answers on a postcard...

Probably an idea to post up a pic of yours in case it looks different to others out there - can't think how mine could be much lower profile for example

I would have thought there's a lower compatible cap without the level switch. If you’re luckily you might get away with trimming the underside of the bonnet and the cap socket and pushing the spade connectors on without the plug housing but I ended up having to lower my pedal box with a few washer under the top 4 bolt mounts. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

It's a known & common problem and the bonnets should really come with a warning. To be honest I’m actually pleased I didn’t know otherwise I would never of fitted a vented bonnet but once fitted they look perfect, OEM and help cooling especially on Precat.

Good Luck and please rest assure they are worth the extra effort.

Thanks for the heads up, Steve...The car is stripped, so not a massive problem to lower the box, just a pain...Did you get the e-mail?

No, I can't imagine a lower one, either...

I suppose technically you could whack on any cap with the same thread, you'd just lose the low fluid warning light.

I think I read there's a lower Peugeot cap without the sensor that fits ok.
If I ever respray mine I'd love a fibreon bonnet - how much was it if you don't mind me asking and is it a straight swap?

Manic, selfish I know but I plan to fit the Fibreon bonnet. I don't have an answer but it is nice to be forewarned and obviously I am interested in the solution. I like Steve's solution but don't know how much work that is. Pete

I paid about £470-ish, delivered...

Apart from the cap clearance, I bolted it straight on...You just have to bond the lock block thing on...Everything else just swaps over...
Oh...And bond some mesh into the vents.

Did you see that Veg wants to sell his?

I’m sure you can imagine it’s one of those tricky jobs in an awkward position that requires a lot of patience but is possible in situ. Although at the time I had the whole pedal box out to fit electric power steering I do remember gluing washers together and sliding them on top of the pedal box. Loosen all the bolts but don’t completely undo them all at the same time plus I’m sure I used longer bolts. I also had to elongate the lower pedal box bolt holes a few mm with a hand file.
The joys of TVR ownership

Ouch. Probably be a couple of hundred on top to spray it as well. I shall defer until after the Lottery draw tomorrow...

I bought a Griff and a Chim bonnet and had the vents grafted across by my mechanic and it clears the brake cap.
