Worth checking your front pulley
Discussion
Just doing some maintenance on the Griff at the weekend and was about to check the timing but found the timing marks to be about 90deg out.
Basically whats happened is the front damper has slipped around on its rubber mounting (thanks Hamish). The big issue here is that this will throw the balance of the engine out causing premature wear and even damage. So certainly worth checking.
The next shock I got was when I rang a respected V8 engine builder he informed me that TVR balanced the whole engine pulley and flywheel as one unit so the only way to replace the front pulley was to remove the whole engine strip it down and rebalance with a new front pulley
The next call I made was to Powers performance (Tvr Power) and spoke to Andy who informed me this was a common issue and if I send him my old Pulley he would balance a new one up to match, no need to remove the engine
Posted it off to him Tuesday and received it back in the post today Thursday all balanced and ready to refit for the weekend
So a big thanks to Andy at Power for an excellent service and a word of warning that its worth checking the front pulley.

Yes I wanted that myself but as I was informed I would have to have the whole engine re-balanced to fit one. I will do an engine rebuild at some point and when I do I will get it balanced individually ie crank flywheel front pulley etc all done separately. Then if you want to change something you dont have to get all the lot done at the same time.
