Just looking at the pic of your new one on your profile and...................
Number plate is too low, you must be reducing 50% of air intake with it in that position. Next time your visiting Goodwood or Sussex/Surrey area I can take you to my trimmers etc.
I see you're in the same business as me, maybe you can get a meeting/training course 'down south' and we can link up.
Total cost for a new mohair hood, wilton carpets edged in leather and leather everywhere else was £2,800 - IMHO money well spent.
£1,200 carpet and hood - £1,600 leather.

Thanks for the info Paul. Damned good price on the hood and carpets there.
Not sure about the No Plate Paul, thats where it was when I got it and I thought its where it belonged.
I'll experiment with it though as its velcro'd on because I've been trying to realign the driving lights the previous owner had set as fog lights!
(yes, velcro really does work
)
I'm also considering getting one of the 3/4 size plates.
If I get back down your area I'll certainly look you up and take you for a

Sorry for barging in - but it looks like Barreti's front end is the 500 spec - hence far greater air capacity. I have a 500 nose on my car and the plate is slap in the middle like Barreti's. From an engineering point of view it's ridiculous, but from a looks point of view it's about right. No problems with overheating (although I remove it for track days).
I'm tempted to move mine lower to make the car appear lower, and fabricate some kind of bracket with meccano or similar - the plate would then begin to act like a splitter, but haven't got much further with this.

You're quite right Griffter, it's a 4.3 with a 500 front end (I know the story behind this and it's nothing sinister)
I've been toying with 2 ideas ..
1) a 3/4 size plate
2) moving the current plate down to sit against middle and bottom bars to act like a scoop and shove air up into the rad and air filter.
Think I'll try the latter first and see if it changes anything.
I also fancy trying the mod-wise hint about closing the bottom of the 'scoop' although I don't understand why TVR would have created the mesh hole there in the first place if it reduced the efficiency of the rad cooling
