Fan wiring - bit odd
Discussion
I removed the radiator today as it had sprung a leak, and in doing so noticed the power feed to the fans has been altered.
It looks as if originally there were two seprate feeds to the fans, but someone has dropped one feed and made the connectors to power both from one feed.
I wondered if separate feeds were so that only 1 fan could be used if required, or is it to spread the load across more wires. Perhaps my redundant feed failed (I've not had a meter on it yet).
any advice appreciated.

I believe that both single cable and twin cables to the fans are commonplace.
Some cars had a single cable protected by a single 40Amp fuse. Others, twin cables protected by a pair of 25 Amp fuses.
I believe the two cable/fuse method was adopted due to the single fuse blowing frequently due to the starting surge from the fans.
Have a look in your fuse box and see if you have two or single fuses.

If your car is an early pre cat, this is what i found.
